MCP connector

Connect RecurBoard to your own AI assistant

Ask AI lives inside RecurBoard. The MCP connector does the reverse: it brings your figures to the AI assistant you already use, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot, with your live data from Exact Online.

For example, you can:

  • build forecasts based on your Exact Online figures
  • run scenarios, such as the impact of higher churn on your ARR
  • have a monthly or board report drafted with your own commentary added

Plain-language explanation

What is MCP?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. Think of it as the USB-C port between AI assistants and software.

One standard plug. Your figures travel from Exact Online through RecurBoard to the AI tool you already use.

Getting started

How it works in RecurBoard

Four steps, once. You don't need a developer, just copy and paste.

01

Exact Online connected

Already running RecurBoard? Then this step is done.

02

Turn on MCP

Settings, the MCP tab. One switch per administration.

03

Paste the connection

Copy the server URL and token into your AI client. Done.

04

Ask your question

Your assistant now sees which live figures it may request from RecurBoard.

Under the hood

What happens when you ask a question

Your assistant invents nothing. It fetches the figures from RecurBoard.

01 · QUESTION

Which customers cost me MRR this month?

Plain language, no query.

02 · REQUEST

RecurBoard · churn · this month

RecurBoard returns only what your token may see.

03 · ANSWER

Three names, €1,240 of contraction, with the source attached.

Traceable to the RecurBoard definition.

Two different jobs

Ask AI or MCP?

In short: in RecurBoard you understand your figures, with MCP you take them with you. Asking something about your KPIs? Use Ask AI.

Ask AI:inside RecurBoard

The fastest route to insight into your subscriptions. Ask AI knows your dashboard, your definitions and your charts. Answer in one click, with the chart right beside it.

  • Explanation of a KPI or an anomaly
  • Following up on a chart or cohort
  • Analysis during your monthly close
  • Nothing to set up, it's in your plan

MCP:outside RecurBoard

For work that ends elsewhere: a forecast, a scenario, a board report. MCP supplies the figures, your AI tool does the rest.

  • Running forecasts and scenarios
  • Having monthly and board reports drafted
  • Combining with data outside Exact Online
  • Letting your own agent or script read along

In doubt? Start in RecurBoard. Ask AI answers questions about your figures faster and with more context than an external assistant. Turn on MCP the moment you need those figures somewhere else.

Use cases

What you do with it

Four things customers do with the connector today. Type the question, the figures come with it.

Build forecasts

Look ahead at revenue and cash flow based on your Exact Online figures, not on a gut feeling.

Forecast my ARR and cash flow for Q4.

Run scenarios

See what higher churn or extra expansion does to your ARR and your margin.

What if churn goes to 3%?

Monthly or board report

Have the report drafted with your own commentary added.

Draft the board report for August.

Your own agent

Build your own automation on the same definitions as the dashboard, for KPIs and financial reports.

Alert me when churn goes above 2%.

Security

You keep the key

The connector reads, never writes. You decide who connects and for how long.

Read-only

No action changes anything in RecurBoard or Exact Online.

Your rights apply

Your token follows your rights in RecurBoard: only the administrations you have access to.

On or off per administration

You turn MCP on per administration. Where it is off, your assistant sees nothing.

Revocable instantly

Revoking the token works immediately. The connection goes quiet.

Note: the data you request, including customer and invoice data, goes to the AI tool you choose. Pick a client whose privacy policy fits your organisation.

Frequently asked questions

Which data can my assistant request?

Your subscription KPIs (MRR, ARR, churn, NRR, ARPA and cohorts), your financial reports (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow) and all the underlying data in your Exact Online administration, such as ledger entries, invoices and relations. Read-only, per administration you turn MCP on for; KPIs and reports also consolidated across several administrations.

Do I need a developer?

No. You copy two fields into your AI client. If it doesn't work, support will help.

Which AI tools work with this?

Anything that supports MCP: Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot and custom agents.

Does this replace Ask AI?

No. For questions about your KPIs, Ask AI in the dashboard stays the fastest and most complete route.

Can my assistant get it wrong?

The figures come straight from RecurBoard. The interpretation remains the work of you and your assistant.

Is this included in my plan?

The MCP connector is part of RecurBoard. Existing customers turn it on themselves in the settings. See the pricing for the details.

How current are the figures?

As current as your dashboard. Same calculation, same moment of refresh.

Turn on the MCP connector today
